Our Story
11 years and counting.
After eleven years operating as B-Alternative, our vision remains the same: that local action can ripple outward to create profound cultural and environmental change. Our rebrand to Ripple Projects is a natural evolution, representing a clarity of purpose and the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation.
Our journey began in 2015, evolving in response to a world grappling with environmental destruction and an escalating waste and plastics crisis. We knew then, as we know now, that plastic poses one of the greatest dangers to marine ecosystems, which consequently supports all life on earth. Since then, our work has evolved in directions we never could have imagined - led always by curiosity and an instinct for place-based, regenerative waste-reduction solutions.
Today, Ripple Projects brings together a decade of experience in reuse systems, waste education, resource recovery, circularity, community engagement and regeneration. Our team are passionate environmental advocates and waste specialists, but we’re also artists, writers, educators, storytellers, designers and dreamers. We work across festivals, public spaces, businesses and local communities, delivering tailored programs for projects of any scale.
Projects
Beyond our service offerings, we manage a number of evolving projects that support our vision of a world without waste.
● Projects
Annual Regen Trip
Anticipating its 7th year in 2027, our annual regeneration trip is the cornerstone of our year. Close friends and partners join our team in remote Australia, regenerating landscapes, engaging in coastal clean ups, learning about ecosystems and dreaming up the future we believe in.
● Projects
(Re)Store
Late in 2026 we signed the lease to a brand new warehouse space in Heidelberg. We’re creating a community of purpose-led organisations, sharing space, resources and ideas. Follow along as we build a new impact hub in Melbourne’s North!
● Projects
Melbourne Food Rescue Network
We are proud to support the Queen Victoria Market Food Rescue Network, in partnership with STREAT, City of Melbourne, the Victorian Government, SecondBite and local food relief providers. Surplus food is rescued and sorted on-site by our team and dedicated volunteers, before being distributed to those who need it most.
● Projects
QVM Reuse Pilot
In 2025 we proudly delivered a three month Reuse Pilot at the Queen Victoria Market, in collaboration with STREAT and City of Melbourne. Over the three months, we replaced 40,325 single use items with reusables and diverted 1,987kgs of organic waste.

Promise, we don’t send very many.
Quarterly, at best.
Our team are environmental advocates and waste specialists, but we’re also artists, writers, dreamers and thinkers. We’d love to stay in touch somewhere other than social media.
